I'm comfortable with such an extension. Something that took:
松本 (まつもと) Matsumoto (p,s,f)
to:
松本 (まつもと) Matsumoto (p,s,f); city pop 250k, Nagano pref.,
(nnn.n,mmm.m) PPPPP
would probably be useful.
