Re: Reference Dictionaries (Was: [edict-jmdict] About entries containing "with negative")

Just to reiterate: It is _explicitly_ stated, elsewhere, that "和大", is the "新和英大辞典第5版", as you've said? (not "新和英大辞典", but specifically "新和英大辞典第5版")

Anyway, it's not so much labelled as "KOD", so much as "KOD supplemental vocabulary", then? (KOD encompassing far more than just the "KOD追加語彙")
...which you shorten to "KOD".
As it is the "KOD exclusive" material.
(...though I'd say additions/revisions to GG5, that appear nowhere else, are also KOD exclusive, but... as I've, said, I'll accepted that)
It should perhaps be noted if it's the JE or EJ portion that is cited, but I guess that should be obvious from the context, anyway, so maybe not.

That would appear to explain everything. Thanks.

Perhaps some examples will illustrate what I mean. If you look up
??/??? using the
Kenkyusha site it tells you there are entries in 5 Japanese-English dictionaries
(plus a heap in English-Japanese dictionaries.) Among the JEs are "??",
which is the "???????5?" and "EV" which is the "KOD????(??)".
If you select ?? you are shown the straight GG5 entry, pretty much as you'd
see it in the paper of CD edition. It has 3 senses (we have 6), and it
includes about
50 compounds of ??.

If you select EV you get the KOD???? information, which in this case
consists of about 40 additional compounds and example sentences.

If you look up ??? you will only be offered the EV as that term is not in
GG5. In this case the KOD???? has a full entry:

????????????? (sekenchi)
knowledge of [familiarity with] the ways of the world
plus two example sentences.

Since reference information can be in one or the other of these two,
I think it's important we distinguish between them when quoting a
