If it would make his life easier, it would be possible for someone here
who is inclined or interested to convert a file scraped from the
ictionnaire-japonais.com site into EDICt or JMdict format. They are sure to
have a dump facility somewhere. I see that an EDICT-format file ws generated
some time in the past. Perhaps he would respond to a request for a periodical
raw dump.

While we are on the subject of Japanese-French, a French version of the
kanji meanings for inclusion in the KANJIDIC family is well under way.
The guy doing it has just about completed the 常用漢字. From then on it
gets to be a bit more of a challenge as the only published French kanji
dictionaries (e.g. Martin) don't go past the 常用漢字.
I would like eventually to crank up a French version of WWWJDIC. I might
air it as a project on fr.lettres.langue.japonaise The bulk of the
