Naginatajutsu refers to the old-school martial art, different to and separate from the modern sport of naginata.

To quote from the top of Japanese Wikipedia's article (above and before the actual article itself) on naginata (the weapon ...with a similar headnotes for the pages mentioned):
この項目では、武器としての薙刀について説明しています。
現代武道の薙刀については「なぎなた」をご覧ください。
古武道の薙刀については「薙刀術」をご覧ください。
(Kinda interesting how the art is typically written with hiragana, to distinguish the two, at least in writing. Just when I though that should be noted, I notice that a [uk]-tag has already been added. Nice)

Of those few transitive examples, all are for sense 2

Meikyo:

Has this note on the second sense:
使い方:「旧敵に仇を報いる」 「一矢を報いる」 「恨みを報いる」など、他動詞としても使う。

Smk: (自他上一)〈だれ・なにニ━/だれニなにヲ━〉
Iwakoku, GendaiSK and Shinsen also have [vt,vi]

Nikkoku actually splits them:
Intransitive: sense 1
Transitive: sense 1 and sense 2
Note: (2)「…をむくゆ」か「…にむくゆ」かについては、古く格助詞「を」をとっていたが、平安後期以降「に」をとるようになった。

There are plenty of examples of を報いる in the NDL, though it tends to be the second sense more often than it is the first from a quick glance

Something should be done about this outlier case. Having no transitive tags isn't a great solution in my eyes.

I propose a version along these lines. Perhaps the note should also include something about the passive being very common

I feel like "the first of the month" in English mirrors how ついたち works in Japanese better, because it's the standard idiomatic English expression for this concept. It clearly refers to a specific, established day, just like ついたち does in Japanese, and avoids the slightly overly literal feel of "first day of the month."

Happy first of the month.

  Comments:
sorry for commenting on a recently edited entry, but i think it can be improved
smk does say that ついたち can be used adverbially
一日/いっぴ is only used for sense 1, esp. in a business context (sankoku example, meikyo, shinkoku)
朔日/さくじつ is only used for sense 1, daijr, kanken, iwakoku specify 陰暦 (daijrs also kinda implies this by saying "朔月。「卯月朔日」") but not for ついたち - i also suspect it's more dated/formal as most refs redirect to ついたち and shinkoku tags it as 文
even if the archaic second sense is removed, it feels to me that splitting out the readings would make for better and more complete entries

i believe sentence #209505 was actually meant for 1日/いちにち instead of this entry, but the reading or entry id wasn't specified
the audio link in wwwjdic contains "kana=ついたち&kanji=1日" which means it was probably meant for ついたち so if my proposal is accepted ついたち should remain in this 2311109 entry
i can't actually confirm the pronunciation because when i try to play the audio it only says something along the lines of "audio not available, will be uploaded shortly"

  Comments:
Copied sense two and three from ぶらぶら, seems to align with references.
Kept the first sense slightly different since I don't see "小さく" in the references for ぶらぶら sense one, I don't think it hurts

Moreso entertainment terminology right? Does also seem to have a computing meaning but maybe drop the tags?
