In 2017 "noble" and "dignified" were dropped from this term, but if you see the xref, that's >60% of all use of this term. Perhaps this entry should also have glosses like "elegance", "eloquence", or "refinement". I think that's the only way to cover the "格調がある" usage. The current glosses are just so neutral. The daijs entry makes reference to "精神的な高さ" right in the definition. |

| Comments: | Is "center of the board" fine? It specifically means the most central point exlcluding the points aroudn it, so I am not sure I need to specify, but usually go players who are not beginners say tengen anyways in English. Also I put the order like this because tengen will mean the center of the board way more than it will refer to the title or its tournament |

| Comments: | Kojien has 5 senses, but that's overkill. The 2 that are also in other references are enough, although the archaic one could be split perhaps. Unabridged nikkoku also has a third sense, but I don't see it in other refs so I have left it out for now. I have preliminarily added daijisen's notes |

| Comments: | Not A+B (tall/high +tone/style?), and this has almost 200,000 ngrams between its various forms. "elegant" seems like the obvious #1 gloss. Maybe you'll have some other options. See for comparison: 格調高雅 (1000 ngams): refined; dignified; elegant; graceful; exquisite (gets a little extra "gracefulness" from 雅 I imagine). Eijiro's use of "sonorous" strikes me as a dated usage, if I understand what they are after. |
