Eijiro gives only one gloss, and it's the one I wanted to add when reading this grammar example:

Not so sure about the other existing glosses.　Looking at daijs, they seem inappropriate or maybe [rare], [arch] or "original meaning". Chatgpt says could *maybe* mean "recede" in the sense of tides or water lines, but my Japanese teacher was a bit incredulous.  *Possible* for tides, maybe, but quite unlikely to be used that way.

Seems like "usually negated". There are kotowaza entries specifically for negated forms. 

See notes at 後へ退 and ngrams for justification of [rK]. Should not be recommended. Maybe [oK]?　I suspect 後へ退く requires furigana to have this reading.

Strongly suggest manually removing frequency tags ([ichi1]) from this term, which currently suggest it is "common" (no doubt grouped in with しりぞく).

Confirmed with Japanese reader, 退く is very rarely going to be read as ひく without furigana. even in the attached example sentence, which we have furigana'd as ひく, her opinion was that しりぞく was a more appropriate reading and made total sense. She gave one of those "ひく is maybe not technically wrong, but..." replies.  She even read 後へ退く, which is otherwise idiomatic as 後へ引く, as しりぞく。

These seem like separate senses to me, and dictionaries that include the "real situation" sense (e.g. daijisen, koujien, 日本国語大辞典) give them separate numbers. I put the favouritism sense first as several dictionaries (e.g. gg5, shinmeikai) list only that sense and so presumably it is the most common.

Sense 3 is new, and I add it on the basis of koujien and meikyou's sense いつわりのない気持ち。まごころ。

In sense 2, "real situations" seems slightly odd phrasing to me, but I have left it as-is.

While it's certainly not a very controversial meaning, support for this is extremely shallow.
Where did you encounter that gloss? It's the only one using the 足 kanji to spell たり.

It appears this term is a complement to epigraphy and philology.

While there is some overlap between orthography and grammar, I would argue against having a grammar tag, as it is really its own field of research.

"人類の発源地" popped up a few times

The yourei snippet "人類の発源地また文明の発祥地と帰一して" gives me the impression that the former is anchored more in the physical world, compared to the latter.

Again, since this was most likely not encountered in a specific context, it may or may not be accurate. Google results for this term are either chinese or include 発祥地 instead.
I've seen some modern results using this when talking about the source region of weather phenomena, but that isn't its sole usage either.
I think this can stay, this definitely has more credibility than 更衣所 at least. Though I refrained from an xref to 発祥地 since there's really no basis to equate them on.
Given the dating of most of the mentions I glanced over I applied a [dated] tag. 
I believe some form of tagging is needed with these submission, which feel a bit like they're submitted just to have the number go up.
