  Comments:
This could/should probably be marked [spec1], which would help the xref not to look like "use 宅配便 instead". After 10 years, I don't think I realized that 宅急便 had not become genericized, and I could not think of the generic term on my own.

We already went so far as to include the whole xref definition in English.

Perhaps it has become slightly generized, as evidenced by the raft of web pages titled 「宅急便」と「宅配便」の違いとは? Kiki's delivery service probably did/didn't help here(魔女の宅急便), but one random site said in 2020 95% of express home truck deliveries were by Yamato, so maybe the concept of genericization doesn't so much apply here.

Rather indirect, since this isn't the word in question, but I guess cabanas are used as small changing rooms often.
But I concede anyway, there's little point in making a fuss over this now.

When looking for Japanese results on google and going to images, there are 5ish mentions of this word instead of 更衣室 in the first 12 rows. 1 belongs to the second link, the other are all mentions of the わたや更衣所
1. https://zushi-beach.jp/houses/わたや更衣所/
A name of a beach clubhouse established in 1927
2. https://db.nama.bunka.go.jp/index.php/wd-01-1-1-6
A layout plan of what seems to be part of either the "Ōshima Maritime International High School" or the クダッチハウス community center.
Interestingly this mention uses both 更衣室 and 更衣所 next to each other, so they are very unlikely to mean the same.
The plan itself is sadly in a low quality so I can't read what it says

Sources like google AI overview, or AI in general, are absolutely not to be trusted for stuff like this.
According to google AI overview, this word is read こういじょ and not こういしょ. Neither RP nor Eijiro list readings. There's not even a basis for us to give a correct reading.

As for the sources used by that google AI interview, not a single one of them actually contains the word 更衣所, and one of them isn't even Japanese...
When searching google and google images for 更衣所 without specifying japanese results, again no result actually mentions the word in question.
Yes, there certainly appear (chinese) images of changing rooms, but that's most likely because the algorithm takes 更衣 and 所 and deduces a meaning to be searched from those kanji.

.
  Comments:
In short, I believe there is insufficient basis for this entry in its current state, keep in mind that the best reference for this is eijiro.
If this word was actually encountered, the submitter would be welcome to give additional reference or context.
If there is no further comment on this in the next few days, so be it.

I won't insist on this being removed or changed, I guess priority tagging and frequency data usage on dictionary websites makes having words like this less of a problem.
