This is from the book 香君 by 上橋菜穂子: 土と木々の香りがした。いがらっぽい煙の匂い、鉄と馬と人々が醸しだす匂いも混じっていたが、[...] GG5 also glosses the word as "harsh (to the taste); irritating; acrid; pungent". Some other examples from jpdb's mostly-fiction corpus: こっちにまでいがらっぽい臭いが流れてきてる。 少しいがらっぽいそんな空気までもが、好ましく思えてしまう。 And one from a random Asahi article https://www.asahi.com/housing/world/TKY200601180175.html: その結果、フン燃料独特のいがらっぽい煙はゆっくり家の中にとどまり、家族全員をいぶしあげ、それからかろうじてすきまがあるわら屋根から少しずつ少しずつ外に出てゆく。 Though there are certainly many more cases where the subject is the throat, I think providing also glosses suitable when the smell/source of irritation is being described is also helpful. |
