| Comments: | I don't have experience with these sites, however, "club" in English can refer to a group of members, paid or unpaid (e.g. country club, health club(gym), book club). So I think it's worth noting the clubs are a private paid service. Maybe simplify "matchmaking" to "dating" since it could range from a rent-a-girlfriend-style service to a genuine courting service. |

| Comments: | I specifically did not use wikipedia as a reference because it had no useful information. some friendly editor had removed it all some years ago. see an old version, if you must, for the useful bits: https://ja.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=交際クラブ&oldid=68792842 the "datling club" reference in contrast has a wealth of information. I think it is of some importance to mention that: - it costs for men but is free for women - men essentially control who they choose to meet, the women are just "waiting" to be selected - the demographics are lopsided: 82% of meale members are upper managers or doctors - the fees for men are high (30-300 th. yen to join, 30-110 th. yen for a single date) - men are expected to pay "transportation fees" and "pocket money" to the woman upon the date - the men tend to be older or at least not young, while the women certainly are fairly young (many still students) - [reading between the lines,] it may be socially undesirable for a woman to have membership in these clubs due to the above factors but most of all, it is important to mention _at least one_ of these things to let the reader know that there is more to these clubs than the name alone reveals, that he may do his own research |

|
| Comments: | Big note: sankoku makes a dedicated entry for 甚く・痛く, and does *not* include sense [3] under 痛い at all. Highly unusual for an adjective. [3] may be [arch] as [adj-i].
Can't say "esp. 甚い" on [3], since [3] is [uk], and 痛く is still more common than 甚く. Fair enough that [3] is pretty much the only place 甚 is used. As daijs notes, when it is used it is not is いたい, but as いたく, which we have a separate entry for(where 甚い is not [rK]).
5 (甚い)程度のはなはだしいさま。*****多く、連用形を用いる。→甚(いた)く******
Curious how [suf] should apply to [3]. We don't use [suf] for adjectives like 深い (興味深い, and 20+ similar entries). Seems to be reserved for things like にくい、やすい、etc. that modify verb stems (食べやすい、読みにくい) or くさい with [id] meanings ("smells-like"/seems-like). I don't see how [3] could possibly do this...)
===
Aside: strong agree with Marcus from some years back on [int] "ouch!". I can't think of a more natural Japanese interjection than that.
https://japaneseparticlesmaster.xyz/itai-in-japanese/
but can also work as an interjection, especially in speaking, to mean ‘ouch’ in Japanese.

For such obscure terms people are better off using a buddhism dictionary or another buddhism specific source. Like the 新纂浄土宗大辞典 available online This term for example (without the 戒 suffix) can be found there https://jodoshuzensho.jp/daijiten/index.php/戒 |

Occasionally, such as during the fortnightly fast day, they may observe eight precepts (aṣṭā-sīla; the first nine, with the seventh and eight combined as one). Normally, the full 10 vows are observed only by monks or nuns, who also follow the detailed monastic rules (see pātimokkha) that are a further elaboration of the precepts. |

| Refs: | Iwakoku: ②「非時食ひじじき」の略。 Other refs also refer to 非時食. I think what e.g. oukoku and daijr did, is they condensed that extra sense into writing "また、その時間に食事をとること。また、その食事。非時食(ひじじき)。非食(ひじき)。" 非時食: Kanjigen: 〔仏〕非時の食事。時間外の食事。正午以後は食事をしないという制に反して、食事をすること。 Nikkoku: 〘名〙 仏語。出家が食事をすべきでない時間に、すなわち正午を過ぎて食事をとること。また、その食事。在家でも八斎戒ではこれをつつしむことを規定する。非時。非食。 |

|
| Comments: | >Pls advise if 不非時 should be added, too. I don't think so, it's barely got any hits and I don't see it in refs. A word not being on kotobank is a good indicator for this, as kotobank offers searches in the 日本国語大辞典(shorter version) and the 大辞泉. Both of which are very large dictionaries and contain tons of rare and obscure words. In this case the full version of nikkoku(日本国語大辞典) doesn't have it either. That doesn't mean a word being in nikkoku is enough for inclusion, but it's something to go off of |

| Comments: | No worries. I don't deny the commonality of the phrase and its translation being idiomatic. I just don't agree that having this full phrase is the solution. We usually approach cases like these by trying to improve the smallest component's entry. That gloss of "depiction" might not immediately lend itself to a translation of "illustrative purposes", but is accurate. One thing that's might help is having the example sentence I linked be indexed to the 「イメージ」 entry so downstream apps could display it along that. |

| Comments: | Thanks for your consideration and explanation, and sorry if I'm being difficult, but I just want to make the case as clear as I can because I do think it would be a valuable entry. If this doesn't change anything then fair enough, I'll accept that of course. (Also, I guess I should mark this as undeleted if I want my comment to be reviewed? Sorry if that wasn't necessary!) Firstly, I'm still not quite convinced that the meaning is very clear on first exposure to the phrase, even knowing which sense of イメージ is being used - even less so without that prior knowledge, let alone without having the entry visible as a reference (even being aware of that sense, I think many people wouldn't naturally think of it). Also, tatoeba is a low-quality project - there are thousands of unnatural sentences submitted by non-native speakers, so I still think it would make sense to add it (as a common expression) to JMdict, being a high-quality dictionary (especially given the breadth already present). Finally, as long as my other points make sense, there are plenty of full sentences already present in JMdict where their meanings are not obvious from the component parts and/or they are much more common as collocations than chance would suggest, so I'm not sure how this one is any different in that regard. Sorry if you don't think my points are valid or if I've overlooked anything, again, I don't want to be antagonistic or take up editing time, I just want to make sure the case is as clear as I can make it before giving up on it! |

| Comments: | Thank you for the submission Jai. Unfortunately, I do not think this makes an appropriate entry because it is a full-on sentence. The part that might cause confusion is 「イメージ」, but we have a third sense at that entry that should make this meaning clear. (The Tatoeba project might be a better fit for sentences. Compare: https://tatoeba.org/en/sentences/show/2717280) |
