| Comments: | there are a number. search for 'アイタムを', for example. it's unquestionably a typo, but the general policy seems to be that typos should stay as [ik]. reference for sense 2 has been given. if it's in a dictionary you're going to have a hard time proving that it's ~never~ actually used that way, unless you document every single web hit. but if you can suggest a better translation for sense 2, feel free to do so |

| Comments: | Be that as it may, I don't see why a gloss specific to a fictional work is needed. The kokugos give examples of elves in teutonic, british and nordic mythology. Surely they all imagined them differently, in that sense they'd also need to be seperate wouldn't they? I think elves are a generally understood and known mythological creature and there's no need to be so specific about it here. I imagine most people, if not everyone would understand this word if it were mentioned in the specific context of Tolkien's works. |

| Refs: | Prog: 2 〔捕吏〕an arresting officer Nikk: (古くは「からめで」とも) Daijr about the fourth sense: "からめとる人。捕り手。" 捕り手 is archaic in this context. The example sentence given by it is from a story collection of the kamakura period (古今著聞集, ~1254). On top of that the "捕り手" sense is first in weblio古語. I think [arch] can be assumed here. I see the third sense only in daijs and nikkoku, daijs gives an example from the heike monogatari (kamakura). Nikk has 1185 as the earliest, and ~1807 as the latest dating. Probably also [arch]. |
