| Refs: | Google N-gram Corpus Counts for しょうしょう
This might very well be [obs], looking at the refs present and nikkoku dating.
Definitely needs to be split out because it isn't [uk], and adj-t unlinke the others.
Also has second sense in daij and koj.

GG5 for しおしお:〔落胆のさま〕 dejectedly; dolefully; downheartedly; with a heavy heart; in low spirits; crestfallen
Prog:
しおしお(と) ×萎×萎(と)・×悄×悄(と)
しおしおと|dejectedly; in low spirits
• しおしおしている|be dejected [depressed / downcast / downhearted] → also [vs]
Based on this I think all three need seperate entries. I'm going to draft them. |

| Refs: | 三人婚 37 https://dic.pixiv.net/a/三人婚 文字通り3人で結婚すること。 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/三人婚 三人婚(さんにんこん、仏:Ménage à trois)は、2人の同性と1人の異性による婚姻関係を指す。 This is one of the two wikipedia citations. It's about brazil(not Japan), and 三人婚 is quoted as novel. 「3人婚」の届け出を受理、ブラジル初 https://www.afpbb.com/articles/-/2898343?pid=9442437 https://chatgpt.com/c/67af7809-9214-8008-a90c-d722f75e620d If you use ménage à trois to translate 三人婚, English speakers will likely interpret it as a threesome (sexual arrangement) rather than a three-person marriage. The French meaning is slightly broader but still doesn’t quite match the idea of a formal triadic marriage. |
|
| Comments: | Pixiv and wikipedia say the same thing. 三人婚 is a three way marriage(~like) relationship. The Wikipedia 三人婚 article is chiefly about France, and "Ménage à trois" is given as the translation *from French*. The wikipedia article citation is to Brazilian *legal recognition* of 3-person marriages. In English, "Ménage à trois" is most likely to be interpreted as a "threesome", and the "three-way sexual relationship" gloss did not dispel this. And for many English speakers, "threesome" is the only possible meaning. In any case, this is not a common term in Japanese, except in the fanciful rom-com context. Image search shows manga images with brides and grooms and everything. 三人+結婚 = 三人婚 is so straightforward that I'm sure it's even fair to call this a calque from French (as wikipedia suggests). Otherwise, an lsrc=fr note, maybe. |

|
| Comments: | This [exp] is the main use of the noun form 辱め of 辱める. Given in sankoku. It was even mentioned in the ref back in 2010 for editing the "rape" gloss on 辱め. I'm going to edit the two related entries to the same effect, but this seems like an obviously euphemistic reference to rape, much like "violation" or "shame" could be in English. This seems deliberately vague, so while readers/translators should understand that it may indicate rape, I suspect that "rape" itself is unlikely to be an appropriate gloss. Encountered in anime of course. It was used in a scenario where the male was ogling two females, who could more or less read his thoughts and 頭の中で...辱めを受ける was used. It was translated into English as "violation". Seems like this uncommon form might be the inverse: 辱めを与えた 114 vs. 辱められた 2259 Given how uncommon that the 与える form is, I think the opposing meaning is just 辱める. Hence the xref. This also helps keep the glosses aligned. I think an xref to the noun form is unnecessary, especially for [2]. It's the noun form that should point here. |

| Comments: | Ahead of the main comment: "Text Glossing" produces "Hokkaido Sociological Association; HSA" for 北海道社会事業協会 but without the comment "partial match", so I think there is a glitch in the system. :) Main comment about this entry: there seems to be no official translation of this organisation's name, but we have a few approximations, with the best found here: https://www.toya-hospital.jp/en/ and less useful ones here, for example: https://www.report.jcqhc.or.jp/detail/id=4876 https://telljp.com/wikitell/social-welfare-corporation-hokkaido-social-work-association-obihiro-hospital/ At least in Canada, the term "social work" does not at all fit what this organisation does - it denotes the kind of work we would call 福祉事業 (but even some native speakers are unsure about the difference between "social work", "social services", and "social welfare", and it could be also be the case that these difference are not the same in all versions of English) |
