I've also noticed that sankoku uses the tag quite frequently compared to other references.
In this case their 現代新国語辞典 第七版 points out［改まった言い方］, so I added it based on those two.

I don't think this is [form]. The tag is meant to be for literary or very formal-sounding language, much like〔文〕in meikyo. Sankoku uses〔文〕for any word that is primarily used in written Japanese, which is why it's applied much more widely than meikyo's〔文〕tag.

Nipponica for 屋形船:

Even though Amazon uses 方位計 as a synonym for 方位磁針/方位磁石, this term would typically used for NON-MAGNETIC devices such as gyro compasses, watches, electromagnetic direction finders, etc.
