I'd prefer to have an xref from the 様・さま entry (which I've added.)
I've never seen さん written as 様, also we have 694 example sentences indexed to さん and I can't possibly reindex them all to 様/さん.
Removing the (AmE) periods from Mr, Mrs, etc. to align with style of the other entries using these glosses.

  Comments:
Etymological relation alone is usually not a basis for inclusion as a form, but I think it does scrape by here.
様:さん gets 3 hits in the BCCWJ and 4 in the SHC (of course way more in the CHJ but that's to be expected).
Together with being listed as headword in Nikkoku for さん it should be fine as an [sK]

Sankoku for やかた:

②[館]昔、身分の高い人を尊敬して呼んだ言い方。
「お━(さま)」
③船・車につけた、屋根の形のおおい。
「━車(ぐるま)〔=特に、牛車(ぎっしゃ)〕」
④←屋形船。

Meikyo for やかた:
❶[屋形・館] 貴族・豪族などの屋敷。また、その主人。
❷[屋形] 船の上に設けた屋根のある部屋。

Smk calls the first sense [poet].
Despite Sankoku restricting sense one to only 館, what I saw in the examples was more along the lines of Meikyo's restrictions.
Sticking with those.

BCCWJ:

{館}= 25494
{館[ヤカタ]}=894

{屋形}= 153
{屋形[ヤカタ]}= 153

The majority of examples for sense two I spotted in the BCCWJ were as (お)館・屋形様.
The kokugos's examples align with that.

Nipponica for 屋形船:

  Comments:
I think 館:たち・たて should be split out.
It doesn't work smoothly with the restrictions.
On top of that the senses for やかた don't align all that well with those of たて and たち in the kokugos.

Since it kind of got overshadowed before, I'm gonna put the BCCWJ data here once more:

"(4)BCCWJ (Counts in brackets are for 反面):
半面 has 250 counts in total (1069)

Sense one:
{〘活用形=連体形〙}{半面}= 58 (456)
{〘活用形=連体形〙}{半面}{、}= 45 (314)

Sense two:
{、}{半面}= 21 (117)
{、}{半面}{、}= 7 (68)
{。}{半面}= 72 (100)
{。}{半面}{、}= 63 (62)
{〘品詞=連体詞〙}{半面}= 42 (212)
Note that there may be a few missing for the counts with commas, as some of the sentences used , instead of 、.

That's 157 (45 + 7 + 63 + 42) out of 250 hits for conjunctive usage (I didn't use the counts for{。}{半面}and{、}{半面}on purpose, as they could technically include false hits for noun usage). That makes 62.8% of total usage.
Based on that I put the conjunctive senses first, as in the 反面 entry."

.
  Comments:
Both massif and reverso examples show that the conjunctive usage makes up the largest part of total usage.
In case it hasn't been noted yet, the BCCWJ data also supports this.

I get that it's currently only sankoku explicitly marking these senses, but I believe they're on the right track here.
Them also being treated as basically the same grammatical constructs in Brian's Waseda grammar textbook could technically serve as another reference here too.

I think if these two senses were to not lead, we also couldn't reasonably have these [rare] tags on the other senses. Since it's really a comparative rarity and not an absolute one.
And less stark than with 反面 at that.

I've been concerned about those proposed first two senses. After all, they're not in most references. I've come round to accepting them, although I'd be more comfortable if they didn't lead. I'll approve and leave open for a while.

  Comments:
No worries, I figured that something along those lines had happened.

>So my [2] was the previous [2]. I only meant to say that the grammatical usage was far more common than all of these [rare] noun senses, and this term is not itself [rare]. Right now it looks like it is.

Thanks

>So, yes, to be clear, my belief is that the grammatical senses of 反面 should be all be copy/pasted straight into this entry with xrefs (maybe just one way, from here to there). They should probably be the leading senses.

Good, that's what I had proposed as well. I didn't think the usage of conjunctive 半面 vs 反面 was marginal enough to be reduced to a hidden form and a note in 反面. I've put the two senses from my edit back and left Jims additions from the previous edit in place.

>And who knows, we might even decide there is a subtle nuance meriting slight deviation in the glosses. If not today, maybe tomorrow.

I actually had something like this in mind when I put "(but) at the same time" first in sense two. It's quite the minor change, but why not.

If this is approved, the incoming xref from 半顔 will need to be aligned.
And 半面 + the note would need to be removed from 反面.

In common parlance, the 3rd meaning is arguably the most common when used in isolation (metaphorical "illness of the heart/mind" rather than literal sickness.) A Google search for 病んでる shows articles like this (the first article notes the modern usage of 病む):
https://sanyokai-clinic.com/kokoro/4139/
https://uruoi-clinic.jp/mental-column/mental-clinic/how-to-deal-with-mental-illness/

Entries already exist that are derived from sense 3: ヤンデレ (病んでる+デレデレ、mentally ill while also madly in love) and 病み垢 (social media account where someone dumps their negative feelings).

Daijs appears to have [1] as two different senses... I think it needs to be split.

Reading a book with a Japanese teacher, and she told me there's a theatrical version: 舞台もあります. She used 舞台 this way like 10 times in the conversation. Confirmed with a second teacher, her sentence: 舞台を見に行く: to go see a play/show. You can google this structure, and there are endless results.

舞台もあります actually translates as "There a theatrical adaptation as well", but we can't very well put "theatrical adaptation" here.

By comparison, you do not "舞台化を見に行く" (bad).

I noticed on submitting that Robin mentioned the split in 2022. So, I agree.

ししゃも・シシャモ is 熟字訓 for 柳葉魚

Kanjipedia, Sankoku

.
  Comments:
Wouldn't we usually have it as 柳葉魚:シシャモ since it's a foreign word used with kanji as 熟字訓?
I mean, I can see that ししゃも is used a lot, and sankoku even gives it as a headword. So it does make sense to have it.
But most kokugos have it as 柳葉魚:シシャモ, as described.

What about having a [nokanji] tag on ししゃも instead? Just out of curiosity
This way we would dissociate ししゃも from the kanji form and have シシャモ be the reading.

It doesn't give an error but I doubt it has been done before, has it?

舞台化: the process
"千と千尋の神隠しの舞台化"
https://www.sankei.com/article/20211126-XSU2ZKSKXRJH7NVGHUKY5UBMNA/
鈴木は、「千と千尋の神隠し」の舞台化について、こんなエピソードも披露した。ケアードから直接、舞台化の打診を受けた際、宮崎監督が周囲の予想に反して「いいよ」と快諾。「あんなに多くの人に支持されたのだから、もう俺のものじゃない。皆さんのものだ」といった感じだったという。
google: Suzuki also shared this story about the stage adaptation of "Spirited Away." When Caird directly approached him about adapting it for the stage, Miyazaki readily agreed, contrary to everyone's expectations. He seemed to respond, "Since so many people have supported it, it's no longer mine. It belongs to you all."

舞台: the result
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/1106239ccfb634b3933aec93f3defc5cf53013b3
橋本さんは、この発表に「この度『千と千尋の神隠し』の舞台を中国の皆様にお届けできる事、とても光栄に思います。
Regarding this announcement, Hashimoto said, "I am extremely honored to be able to bring the stage production of 'Spirited Away' to everyone in China.

2. The Comparison: Butai vs. Butaika
If you want to say "I like the stage adaptation" in the sense of the product (the show itself), you would usually drop the "ka".
〇〇の舞台が好き (XX no Butai ga suki):
Translation: "I like the XX stage play."

Focus: The show as a piece of entertainment. You enjoyed watching it.
〇〇の舞台化が好き (XX no Butaika ga suki):
Translation: "I like the [way they handled the] staging of XX" OR "I prefer the stage version (over the movie/anime version)."
Focus: The transformation process or the format itself.
  Comments:
The xref is to a new sense, that might need fixing.

As a verb, 舞台化された "was adapted for the stage". (ngrams)

I worked on this for hours before realizing that I am reverting Robin's very recent edit.

I think "stage/theatrical adaptation"(noun) is problematic in English because, without context, it will usually be interpreted as "the end product". "I loved the theatrical adaptation of Beauty and the Beast". This is not that. This is probably why the glosses were as they were. I do think "stage adaptation" belongs here, but I think it needs a big warning sign.

It could work for something like "stage adaptation takes a lot of resources to do well". Or, as in the example below "there are updates in the (in-progress) stage adaptation of XYZ".

Or something like "舞台化決定". "this work is going to be adapted for the stage" / "Theatrical adaptation announced/confirmed".

I have some AI notes, but this is based on human conversations about 舞台 and 舞台化 (see xref). Once a book is mentioned, 舞台もあります means "there's also a theatrical adaptation/version". 舞台化 would not be used this way.

舞台がある	15860	82.6%
舞台もある	3333	17.4%
舞台化がある	0	0.0%
舞台化もある	0	0.0%

If you want to do a lot of reading, these both return innumerable results, the nuance is different:
"千と千尋の神隠しの舞台" (most conversations about the stage performance itself, "the stage adaptation", "the theatrical production", "the end product"
"千と千尋の神隠しの舞台化" how it came about, how is it progressing, when will it be done, what was involved....

Random google hit, page 5:
https://www.huffingtonpost.jp/entry/story_jp_60383864c5b6371109daf58b
「千と千尋の神隠し」の舞台化に驚きの声。千尋役は橋本環奈さん、上白石萌音さん。ハク役は誰に...?
google: There are voices of surprise at the stage adaptation of "Spirited Away." Chihiro will be played by Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi. Who will play Haku...?

The production is *in progress*, and that's what's being talked about. It's subtle.

I think this is waseigo. We just love "exoskeleton" too much to call it anything bland like "power/lift assist suit". Certainly Japanese products *are* translated this way, so if you want to make it a gloss you could. But I don't think it's common English.

Introduced by Japanese speaker when I explained what an "exoskeleton" was in a generic context (not for logistics, just "robot skeleton outside of body"). She was quite fixed on this term.

She reports 外骨格 could be used in SciFi contexts, but not in, say disability assistance or a workplace environment.

Wikipedia gives a list of variants of varieties of exoskeleton: 強化服 強化スーツ ロボットスーツ 強化外骨格 外骨格
But specifically in nursing and cargo/logistics, this term:
医療・介護分野や物流・荷役など重量物を扱う作業で使われているものは、パワーアシストスーツあるいはアシストスーツ[3]と呼称されることもある。

Image search is largely carrying boxes.
Here's a boring logistics example(with pick of small woman lifting heavy object in workplace environment):
https://wakayamashimpo.co.jp/2025/07/20250712_132589.html

With tech development, パワーアシストスーツ is probably becoming more common than the ngrams suggest, and アシストスーツ is following along as the simplification.

could be specific and say sth like "lemon harvestes unripe" because it doesn't seem like "green lemon" is necessarily a known concept in 英語圏 as it appears to be in Japan

  Comments:
An appropriate term for "the final product of an adaptation", if needed. (usually not). usually you just use 舞台 and context.

See comments at 舞台化, 舞台. As with my ice-fishing glosses, the reason this is important to carry is precisely because we have "stage adaptation" on another entries that don't have this unambiguous sense.

36+ pages of google results, 5 pages of books, "舞台化作品" site:mainichi.jp 10 hits, for example:
協会はミュージカル以外も含め、舞台化作品の総称として
人気コミックの初の舞台化作品
コミックの舞台化作品
本シリーズ(通称『まほステ』)はその舞台化作品で
...

Plenty of examples, often with images, exactly what you would expect:
