I added the "refined taste" sense in 2018 but it's archaic. I've replaced it with the "好色。色好み" sense, which is in all the kokugos, including meikyo.

  Comments:
I agree with Peter, though I must concede that the previous gloss was a bit unwieldy.

I know that "fishermen's boss" isn't much better, but "boss fisherman" sounds like an enemy in a videogame, on top of the fact that the 網元 doesn't fish.
Maybe that gloss should be left out alltogether.

> I think these entries can be marked as dated, rare, or hist since they're linked to a traditional, pre-modern Japanese fishing systems [...]
[hist] may be a fit. Definitely not [rare], and [dated] doesn't feel quite right either.
"Traditional" probably describes it best

I really struggled trying to come up with a more fitting word than "contractor". After some consideration I think "master" comes closest, since this was a superior-subordinate relationship after all.

Maybe this works?

No concrete suggestions, but I feel like the glosses here and for 網子 have ended up sounding rather modern ("contractor", etc) and don't communicate that this is about a pre-modern, feudalistic working relationship: that seems to me an important nuance.

I think these entries can be marked as dated, rare, or hist since they're linked to a traditional, pre-modern Japanese fishing systems (地引網/きんちゃく). Nowadays, most commercial fishing is done through deep-sea trawling.

Also found this, which might be close to its meaning:

Appears in at least two early showa era law/foreign law dictionaries, but I don't have access to the full work to see the actual glosses.

Obscure GG5 word
"Occupant" is too broad, maybe this?
I suppose there is no context since this probably wasn't encountered?

  Comments:
based this on ちがうくない (which I added in 2018)
not sure they need the 2nd sense
feel the glosses are perhaps unnecessarily unwieldy
