{なし崩し}= 60
{なし崩しに}= 24
{なし崩し的に}= 20
Significant amount of adverbial usage (for sense two).
Virtually all reference examples use ~に, see also those provided by anonさん.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
It seems to be an oddity on GG5's part, since that's where the "demolition" etc. notes are coming from.
I don't see those in other JE's, Luminous even has it as just an adverb.
Jitsuyou dedicates a separate entry to なし崩しに.
* Prog:
・貯えもなし崩しに減っていた
His savings were running out little by little.
・我々の申し出はなし崩し的に却下された
Our proposals were rejected 「one after another [one by one].
* Sankoku:
もとは「済(な)し崩し〔済す=返す〕」で、借金を少しずつ返すこと。ものごとを少しずつすませることから現在の意味になった。
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
* Support for the kotobasta note:
Oukoku:
①は、正式な手順をふまえずにある事を成立させてしまう場合に用いることが多い。
Jitsuyou:
主に、計画や規則、制度などが、当初の目的や意図から外れて、次第に形骸化していく様子を指す。
また、人間関係や状況が、徐々に変化し、次第に悪化していく様子も表すことがある
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
* Third sense:
Iwakoku:
③俗に、うやむやにすること。だめにすること。「―的に消滅」
▽③は「無し」との誤解からか。「なし」は「日なし」の「なし」と同源。→なす〘五他〙①㋔
GendaiShinkoku:
②[「なし」が「無し」とまぎれた俗用で]時間をかけて、かってにうやむにしてしまうこと。
「原則をーに変更する
Chuujiten:
3 〈うやむやのうちに事を運ぶこと〉
・政府は経営責任をあいまいにしたままなし崩しに公的資金を投入した.
The government quietly poured in public funds while hedging on management accountability.
・家族旅行の話はその後なしくずしになったままです.
Since then nothing has come of the talk of a family trip.

| Comments: | I agree. Perhaps something along these lines works? I'd suggest maybe dedicating an extra entry to なし崩しに, as mentioned in the edits down below. I was struggling quite a bit coming up with glosses for the third sense. Subject to further improvement. |

| Comments: | while I usually don't want to touch Robin Scott's glosses, it feels like they're for very specific sentences here. they work for daijirin's second example but don't think they do for the first they don't work at all for daijisen's two examples kokugos use すませてゆく, 片付けていく or 行なう as verbs, all very neutral, and I can't find mention of "demolition" or "erosion" in them. I recommend replacing the three with "gradual progression (oft. into an unwanted state)" but maybe somebody has better suggestions? the parentheses are only there because of the kotobasta quote, I can't judge its veracity so if you want to remove them go ahead |
