|
| Comments: | Daijs explicitly gives as "or, the station", which would be the xref to 始発駅。It appears that [2] is comparatively rare outside of prefix and suffix usage (especially 始発駅 and city/station-name-始発). Researched only because "departing one's home station (of a train, bus, etc.)" struck me as ungrammatical. "one's" appears to be referring to "train" here. You might have a better workaround, but I did try to align with 終着. |

|
| Comments: | Seems like there'd be a near identical entry for ぶつかりや・ぶつかり屋 as well. Innumerable resources if you search for ぶつかり男 or "butsukari otoko". This term is newer than the ngram database. English wikipedia entry dates to 2021, Japanese to 2020, and claims a coining of the term in 2018. Going by the reddit post I encountered it in, and news/media reports/tiktok videos, this remains an ongoing social issue in Japan. Don't think I've encountered it myself though. I don't think "bumping man" is a great gloss. Seeing it in the wild, it's often "butsukari otoko" romanized + definition w/maybe a [lit] gloss. See for example numerous google results for: site:reddit.com "butsukari otoko" site:reddit.com "butsukariya" The wikipedia headword is also romanized Japanese. |
