Does it really matter when it was added to this dictionary or for how long other dictionaries have had entries for it? This is how it's used now. With the "esp.", what would be the point exactly of splitting this into two entries? All loanwords could have romaji in the kanji field, really.

ユー was an entry at least a decade before 2012, without the "ｙｏｕ" or the foreign connotation.. Dictionaries such as ルミナス simply have it meaning あなた.
Perhaps the ｙｏｕ/ユー version should go in its own entry with a note about the "YOUは何しに日本へ" derivation?

I don't think we can say that ユー refers specifically to foreigners just because it's used in expressions that are a play on the title of a TV show.
YOUは何しに日本へ? only started airing in 2012 and the word has been in Japanese dictionaries for a lot longer than that.
Also, I don't think the "ユーは何しに〜へ" format is used exclusively for foreigners. See the second and third links posted above.
I'd leave the entry as it is.

I'm comfortable with this entry, but we may as well have 日ぐらし[sK] in the other one too.

my problem with duplicating the kanji forms is that it makes search slightly less immediate
"日ぐらし" search-only form is here and not in the other entry, but results on google are mostly related to the 一日中 sense
