ChatGPT: Q: What does "stream" mean in the computing field?
A: In essence, a stream in computing represents a sequence of data elements that are processed or transmitted in real-time or over time rather than all at once. This approach is especially useful for applications that require continuous data handling, such as real-time data analytics, multimedia playback, and network communications.

      Splitting out "rebel".
My refs don't mention floors or layers.
The source for the software versioning sense is Wikipedia, which says it's a term used by Fujitsu. I don't think it's worth including. Not seeing any evidence of more widespread use.
I think レヴェル can be hidden. Web results are mostly "Revel".

I think レブル can go. It's not in the refs and most online hits are irrelevant.
The kokugos have a "水平面。水平線" sense but it's not adjectival so I've dropped sense 4 and made a new (broader) sense using some of the sense 1 glosses.

Just adding [rK]. Not easy to distinguish from あらそう, but it seems like there's enough out there to lean toward [rK].

Sankoku has only 抗う, that confirms something about modern usage at least I think. Android gives only 抗う. (MacOS IME offers all three)

Seems like 争う will usually be あらそう, and noting this as [rK] here confirms this isn't ambiguous for most practical purposes. The next few Japanese people I see, I'll ask them to read 運命に争う and report back if something interesting comes back from that...

(encountered in recent anime as hiragana with the common 運命 collocation, was curious if the other forms were useful)

Common terms on both vending machines and (esp.) casual restaurants.
I believe the reading is correct – 返却(へんきゃく) is common kango, and I’m guessing it’s not 〜こう or 〜くち.
These are sometimes referred to by the long forms コイン返却口 and 食器返却口.

I think this would be helpful to include, even though it's not even in gg5 or eij (eij has some derivatives of it
      though, like 来店者数 and 来店者計数)
I put "visitor" first because a 来店者 isn't necessarily a paying customer, but I wouldn't mind putting customer

According to Wikipedia, only 12 characters are now considered "ghost characters". This one and the others you've identified are in the "典拠が判明したもの" list.
    • Refs
