Synonym: clutch |
|
| Comments: | Also simply "clutch". I did not know this word in English, but it seems legitimate. Google image search is spot on: men's clutch bag vs. セカンドバッグ (without "men's", "clutch bag" in English leans toward women's high fashion, which isn't the default in Japanese) |

| Comments: | Note seems good. I feel like if -がる verb entries should be handled like this in general (which I think they should), there's hardly any way around a note. Making the standard approach to adjust the glosses in a way they (somewhat) allude to the fact -がる can't be used on yourself is rather vague in my opinion. Adding a clear cut note seems to be comprehensible to everyone alike. |

| Comments: | >The がる suffix can mean things other than appearing/seeming. What other things? MK says …という気持ちや様子を外に見せる意を表す。 In GG5's example sentences it's obvious who is doing the 懐かしがる. So of course they don't include words like "seemed to" or "appeared to" in sentences like "My grandmother would often remember the village that was submerged when the dam was built and weep tears." But a non-native Japanese speaker using GG5 might, just like somebody using this entry, very well miss that you can't really use this to refer to yourself. I think "to show nostalgia (for)" is a good starter but I think at the very least one more of the glosses should demonstrate clearly that this is not used for yourself. |

〈副〉At bed-time; before going to bed; the last thing at night |
|
| Comments: | Firstly, yes I agree with your point and [n] should be first, but couldn't it be both? If I say "寝しなにチャイムが鳴った" couldn't it be "The doorbell rang just as I was falling asleep" and "About to go to bed, my doorbell rang"? |
