  Comments:
I started my response as follows:
------------------
Every single JE I looked at (GG5, Eijiro, プログレッシブ, 等,) was quite unequivocal - it's cooking FOR oneself.
The 国語s are characteristically a bit vaguer, but I can't interpret Daijisen's "自分で食事をつくること" to mean anything else, especially as it follows it with "「 −生活」". GG5 glosses that as "a lifestyle in which one cooks one's own meals".
The Chiebukuro example is discussing a point a bit removed from the meaning of 自炊, and I can't really see that alone as grounds for a significant change to the gloss.
Do you really use 自炊 if you are putting on a dinner party? I suspect not.
-----------
Then I glanced through all the examples in GG5 where it is used, and I found:
合宿中は当番制で自炊することになっている. During our training camp we have to cook our own meals on a roster system.
So the GG5 compiler(s) think it extends to cooking for others (presumably in a "self-catering" context.)
I'll add "self-catering", which is in many references.

  Comments:
I disagree Rene, the point of 自炊 is not necessarily that
you're going to eat what you've cooked by yourself - you
might be making something for a bunch of people. I should
perhaps have clarified this but I thought the 知恵袋 quote
was enough: "自炊のカレーで「おいしい」といったけど実はおいしくないといった経
験はありますか?". The meaning is obviously not "have you ever
made a curry for yourself that wasn't tasty, yet you
nevertheless said it was tasty?"

  Comments:
Data integrity is useful for things like indexing against different dictionaries, parsing expressions to assign furigana, scanning the JMdict database for typos, and in general I think it pays dividends in way we don't anticipate.
Since we already have many other entries with unaligned readings, I think I'll just need to maintain my own file of corrections for my purposes.
9. A* 2024-12-10 19:47:24  Stephen Kraus <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
The github discussion was for adding particle-less expressions to entries with particles, but this situation is for adding expressions with particles to entries without them. The latter is more open-ended and there's been some resistance to it in the past (e.g. for adding honorific expressions お〜, ご〜 to entries as sK forms). I think we'd first want to open it up for discussion.

This situation was raised in the linked issue, and while I don't think we reached confirmation of the approach, we've been approving edits where [sK] forms did not align with the reading(s). In this case I approved those 〜の〜 forms because they had [sK] tags, i.e. they are there solely to link to this entry.

Sankoku for first sense: ...〔文〕...

Did not include Meikyo: ❶ 和歌をいう尊敬語。
Because Sankoku argues against this:〔狭義では、御製(ギョセイ)を除く〕
Also besides meikyo only iwakoku mentions it, and since there's already a seperate word for this I don't think it's needed.

〘 名詞 〙
① 物の皮をむくこと。
[初出の実例]「蛸〈略〉かわむきとは、かわを成ほどきれいにすきとむきて、いかやうにも切る事也」(出典:古今料理集(1670‐74頃)五)
② 大根、ニンジン、ゴボウ、イモなどの表皮をむく料理道具。長さ一二、三センチメートルの四角な木の台の先端に薄い金具を付けたもの。総金属製で、着脱可能な刃をつけたものなどもある。
  Comments:
Could split the senses.

Encountered in potato peeling context(compliment): 野菜の皮むきする姿は絵になります

I found the corn bit in an image search, but this is common:
とうもろこしの皮むき
If there's one thing I know about corn, it's that you shuck it. I guess "husking" is fine, but I've never used it myself.

From the link in the refs, 皮むき is also a method for stripping a theatre stage, but perhaps a very particular method.
