| Comments: | Sorry for the delay as always. I've read all comments on entries for the last couple months, this is the only one I'd ask you to possibly reconsider. (Too bad about おもろ, but I take the point). To be very clear, my edit here had 0 to do with 問題ナッシング. The xref here was just bookkeeping. I encountered ほころびナッシング in the wild. I checked jmdict to understand why the character might have said that. My search for "ナッシング" took me to this entry, which did not explain anything. (never mind that the only sense here is a [noun] sense, and this wasn't a noun usage). I agree that seeing the "問題ナッシング" explains the issue *if* users can see it. That's precisely the problem. Many dictionary apps (including jmdict, by default) will include *prefix* matches, but won't include suffix/substring search on a term that has an exact match. I only found 問題ナッシング because I went out of my way to check as part of suggesting this edit. The only way to fix at is to add the sense here. And I don't consider that a hack/workaround. I think the entry is legitimate. It's attached to a couple of common collocations, it's appeared in recent mass-media, and it is tossed around casually by native speakers online with random collocations. I'm perfectly happy to mark the term [net-sl] or [rare] even to dissuade its deliberate use. But unless my understanding of the sense is just completely incorrect, an entry here would have been helpful for me, and would no doubt be helpful to others. |

| Comments: | Strongly recommend splitting ちょう and はらわた. It seems like 腸 = ちょう = a medical term "intestines" はらわた, probably [uk], seems like a more colloquial term for a person's innards, and is used metaphorically much like "guts" is used in English (as seen in the many はらわた expressions at eijiro). sankoku gives *4* senses for はらわた, and exactly 1 for ちょう (消化器の... ie. person's intestines). |

| Comments: | If you search for "釣り上げる" or "釣り上げ" today in jmdict you won't find this entry, and I think you should. Just encountered in professional subtitling in 3-way negotiation for an item. まぁ、そんなわけで値段の釣り上げ交渉ってわけだ This looks to be either intentional, or a super-common misspelling. MacOS and Android both give 釣り上げ as the first IME result, and metaphorically it's not surprising that Japanese natives might think this makes sense. (A Japanese eggcorn?) I agree with the split from 9 years ago, sankoku has the same split. Not sure if/when a proper kokugo would ever bless this usage, but I think this is prevalent enough that it needs to be searchable. I'd usually [sK] a mere "spelling mistake", but this seems have gained a significant degree of acceptance in daily use. |

| 6. | D 2024-11-07 22:03:07 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...> | |
| Comments: | I agree. It's not a super helpful entry either way as it doesn't really explain what this driving technique is. |
|
| 5. | A* 2024-11-07 02:26:51 Robin Scott <...address hidden...> | |
| Comments: | With this gloss we're saying that there's a driving technique called "super drifting". I can't find any evidence for this. I don't see a need for this entry. We have a "drifting" sense for ドリフト. |

I would've also liked to put e.g. a note alluding to the fact that masu has been derived from this. But I think that would make it messier more than it would be helpful. https://www.nihongo-books.com/desu-masu/masu/ |
