If we're going to throw in "nursery school" in here, which again, I really don't think we should, I think we do need to explain the difference between a 幼稚園 and 保育園, because there are several specific differences that are very relevant to foreigners with young kids in Japan. (I'm not being argumentative just for the sake of it)

Let's put "nursery school" back and leave it. The terminology varies a lot - what Americans call kindergarten we call "prep", etc., etc. In general "nursery school" seems to fit 保育園/保育所. After all, the 保育 indicates rather young kids. (My 5yo granddaughter is in prep, and my 3yo grandson is in kindergarten.)

Encountered this term in a scene where a male protagonist suggests he'd be more motivated if his female companion/interest addressed him: "上目遣いで「私のために頑張ってね」".  Google image search is *mostly* female faces.

If you google "she looked at him with upturned eyes", all you get is a handful of stories with Japanese protagonists.  Doesn't appear to be very natural in English.

Without more detailed references for the usages of this word, I don't think we need to copy all the senses from our 聞こえる entry. The kokugos just say "きこえるに同じ" for that sense.

The note "as (お) + masu stem + きこゆ" on the final sense here is incorrect. Shinmeikai says it is "「動詞連用形＋━」の形." Daijirin's example is "思ひ━・えむ."
