Daijisen, Meikyo, gg5, progressive

Meikyo and Daijisen both define this as something like 旅立ちに際して、その前途を祝し激励すること , so "rousing" seems not to capture the meaning very well here. Progressive has an example of  選手たちに壮行の言葉を述べる = "make a rousing speech to send off the athletes" but clearly "send-off" is doing at least half of the work in that translation.

I have attempted to improve the gloss but am not super happy with what I came up with; feel free to tweak/improve.

This word is obscure enough that GG5 doesn't list it, only  壮行会 “farewell party”. It also appears in only 16 of jpdb's 6000+ books/other texts. (壮行会 is a bit more common.)

Hello this is the first entry I’ve ever made.  I’m a Japanese language learner from Arizona in the United States.  There are quite a lot of us learning Japanese here in the schools and using online dictionaries, so I wanted to start adding local things like flora and fauna to the dictionary to potentially help my classmates and other students from the region.  There aren’t many entries for local plants, animals, and food in the dictionaries that use jmdict.  There usually aren’t Japanese language Wikipedia entries either.

I don't think it needs a tag. We have 196 -税 entries and only two of them are tagged as [finc].
