The English word "president" is veeeery broad and vague, but the Japanese terms that are used for its various meanings, very much are not. Especially 大統領. It refers exclusively to a country's president …except for in the second, figurative and tongue-in-cheek, sense, where someone is metaphorically (and very much hyperbolically) referred to, as being as big and important as the president of a country.
