Refs: | https://www.bunka.go.jp/kokugo_nihongo/sisaku/joho/joho/kakuki/22/pdf/jitaihyo.pdf As I understand it, the bureaucrats in the education ministry decided in 2000 that 搔 is the proper ("印刷標準") form of the kanji and 掻 is an acceptable simplified variant ("簡易慣用"). Practically every recently published kokugo from a variety of different publishers (daijirin, meikyo, iwakoku, etc.) uses these 印刷標準 kanji rather than the simplified forms. |
|
Comments: | Many entries will be much messier if we display both types of forms, so I think it's probably best to stick with one. Lately we've been hiding the "proper" forms and keeping the simplified forms visible. I think that's probably fine. If we want to switch to the 印刷標準 forms someday, it would be simple enough to write a script to swap them. I agree [rK] probably isn't a good tag for these kanji forms, since they're quite a bit more common now than when the 2007 n-gram corpus was compiled. People are bound to encounter them frequently and wonder what they are. Maybe that information is better explained via a dedicated kanji dictionary rather than a vocabulary dictionary like JMdict. |

Comments: | I don't think 搔く rates as [rK]. Kanjipedia is a form of kanwa; not the sort of reference we'd use to justify word level [rK] tags. 搔 entered the JIS standards in JIS X 0212 as an 異体字 of 掻. Even after 20+ years of Unicode it's still rather rare. Wiktionary says it's a 旧字体, but I don't take that as authorative. |

Comments: | Adding notes with the intent of further clarifying function. Changing both senses to v2a-s. Addressing the points in 2020-09-01 20:16:58, This is considered by every Japanese source I have looked at as the only remaining 二段 verb in modern Japanese and it does conjugate, even if the only provable instances of conjugation are the identical 連体形 and 終止形, both forms are still formally distinguished by 国語 grammars by their use much like english tells apart past 'read' from non-past 'read' by pronunciation. Non-provable instances of conjugation would be 未然形 and 連用形 as they would be completely indiscernible from える. Finally, there is the provable case of the 仮定形, but it is almost never used: ありうれば returns measly 33 results from the N-gram and a google search only 407 - though you will see that it is indeed the 仮定形 if you stop to read some of phrases found by google. |

Comments: | The "adj-no" tag is defined as: "nouns which may take the genitive case particle `no'". In other words it's saying in this case that 基準の can behave as an adjective. This is supported by various references, e.g. the Kenkyusha 新和英中辞典 has, after the noun glosses: "¶基準の standard", and the リーダーズ+プラス 英和 translates the English adjective "standard" as (among other things) 基準の . I think your proposed removal of the "adj-no" POS tag from this and other entries is based on a misunderstanding of the tag. |

Comments: | I think it is useful separately. I'm encountering it end-of-sentence, with clearly the 'whatever' meaning. in the reference it is also described separately. note that this article also mentions the meanings 'fine' and 'never mind'. from reverso it also seems it is commonly used by itself. and translated in some cases with 'okay' (adding these). |
