Comments: | I don't think this proposed edit helps much. Increasing the glosses to 29 and the senses to 5 seems like overkill, and the references don't really support the changes. Moreover the senses no longer match the examples or cross-references. Unless a good case is made I'll revert it to the current version. |

Picking some entries with [io] tags from JMdict at random, I see koj has 不服申立て rather than 不服申立, 下読み rather than 下読, and 下履き rather than 下履. But also, koj has 不釣合 rather than 不釣り合い, and 中入 rather than 中入り. So I'm not sure what the logic is. That said, I'm not fussed if [io] is used for this entry. |

Comments: | To get rid of the messy restr tags, I propose dropping 掻き上げ, which only applies to archaic/obscure senses. Daijr doesn't even have it. Most (if not all) of the the ngram counts come from the verb. The castle sense is also very obscure and only in daijr and nikk. I don't think it's needed. |

Refs: | not sure about that. at least in koj 6, the relevant sense says '(「掻揚げ」と書く)'. daijs also has both headwords, but likewise restricts this sense to 掻揚げ. our own entry for あげる restricts the deep-frying sense to 揚 as well: (5) (揚げる only) to deep-fry |
|
Comments: | if this is going to remain as the only sense in this entry, then i think 上 versions should remain as iK. if additional senses are added, then the iK can come off, and the tempura sense can be restricted to 揚 versions |
