Comments: | is the [lit] gloss necessary/helpful? my dics all say something along the lines of it being used especially within christianity, esp. to refer to another (non-monotheistic) faith. so paganism/heathenism seems to capture it perfectly without the lit gloss. (e.g. Buddhism is the dominant faith in Japan, but dics tell us it is more likely to be among minority Christians to refer to the majority faith) |

Comments: | i think the glosses already provided and the ones for the sense you suggested are both okay assuming that the source is okay |

Comments: | You mean the stroke/caress one? |

Comments: | i'm not sure how much credence i give to this dictionary... they call it [n,vs]... i would have assumed it was [adv,vs]. also, their first example sentence appears to refer to a video game character and there appears to be a note about not molesting women at the end of it. (which i suppose is a good thing, but rather odd for a dictionary). if legit, the suggested first sense makes sense |

Comments: | That seems to be the second sense. Maybe "(something) soft, dreamlike, tender" is the first sense? |
