ロケ [gai1]
1. [n,vs]

2. [n]

Conjugations

History:

  Comments:
simply used to mean "on location" as opposed to "field piece". i don't think it warrants a sense, and certainly not without a reference
4. A* 2015-03-06 21:50:23  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>

Can you provide some backing to show that ロケ is being used in Japanese to mean the same as "field piece"? None of my references have it, and it's not up to the editors to go searching for justification for a proposed change.

* “joys and sorrows” is more idiomatic
* FWIW, this is essentially synonymous with 悲喜 (大辞林と広辞苑 give identical definitions), but used in different set phrases. Further, GG5 translates them subtly differently as “joys and sorrows” (plural – many events, 哀歓) and “joy and sorrow” (singular – the emotions themselves, 悲喜).

Compare 人生の哀歓 “the joys and sorrows of life” with 悲喜交々(の人生) “(a life of) a mixture of joy and sorrow” – admittedly quite subtle.

This is an old pronunciation of 傾く(かたむく) – I suspect that it’s more prevalent in 関西弁, since I’ve encountered it twice here (once in speech of a woman in her 60s – so born 1950s, once in writing of 田辺聖子 (兵庫県、1928)).

However, I don’t think it’s limited to Kansai, so while it might be labeled “dated” or “dialectical”, none of the tags seem to apply, so I haven’t tagged it.
