I wouldn't lead with bushfire as it's mainly an Aus/NZ term. GG5 and most other JEs just 
have "forest fire" without any mountain qualification. I guess in the Japanese context

I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, but I'm not really sure what's at stake. The form isn't completely hidden, just moved to a note.

We've used this style on quite a few entries recently. See 1164780 (一挺), 1167270 (一旒), 1299600 (杜鵑花), 1260670 (因・もと), 1588320 (撮す), etc.

Since this is a policy decision that affects many entries, it would be best to have this discussion on github or the mailing list.

i don't think it's a good idea to hide a kanji form that is in multiple references and in absolute numbers pretty common
imo it's better to split it off and cross-reference it

Of all the references I checked (JES & Kokugos) only Meikyo mentioned 採り上げる. GG5 has sense 2 for 取り上げる so that "esp." looks rather doubtful. Also, the JEs have 4 senses which I think works well. I think the 7 senses is overdoing it.
I'd be OK with making 採り上げる [sK], goin back to 4 senses, and stripping out all the notes and restrictions.

I've asked a couple Japanese people about this and they say that they've never 
heard of this kanji read as つく. The つく reading is not part of the Joyo readings 
for this kanji. As far as I can tell, this kanji is usually only pronounced this way 
when it appears in phrases like 「息を吐く」「悪態を吐く」「嘘を吐く」, but is 
usually written in hiragana instead.

I'll sort this out when I get home - I have limited tools at present. We need to think of an appropriate policy approach to Japanese organizational names. i.e. which dictionary they go in.

日本政策金融公庫 is already in enamdict.  i would suggest that 国民金融公庫 should be moved there as well  (gets only 200k hits nowadays, so it's not really news1 by today's standards).  日本政策金融公庫 could potentially be moved out (1.3 million hits)

I agree with Robin. This is too confusing. Besides, it's not "_usu._ in the negative" but always in the negative.

i always get confused about the notes on the negative glosses.  for example, does the english gloss that is given correspond to the headword (めどが立つ) or to the negative form mentioned in the note (～のめどが立たない)?  in some cases it is obvious but i don't think we have been consistent about this
