Interesting observation. Explains why I never did any coordinate geometry after leaving high school (in 1964), despite doing a degree in maths.

The mathematical term is now more or less obsolete and was used in a 
didactic sense mostly restricted to high-school: pupils start learning to 
demonstrate geometrical properties (such as equality of two lengths) by 
analyzing the position and configuration of figures and constructing a 
discursing proof. But they are later introduced to plane and spatial 
coordinates (introduced by René Descartes in 17th century) where these kinds 
of properties can simply be verified by computation. The correct, more 
general, professional term is analytical geometry 1801280・解析幾何学.

no, it gets zero google hits. google's suggested correction, 神仏習合, for which there is already an entry, gets all the hits. 伸 != Shinto (神)

I had no idea about this so I looked up your site without success. Then I did some searching on Google and got over 400k of hits. The above meaning comes up in Wiki and it seems to be reasonable. I came across the text in a Japan Society leaflet about a lecture on Shintoism and Buddhism and various other things. Some of the other things are on your site, e.g., 本地垂[じゃく]説 (sorry about missing kanji which does not come up on my syetem, but which means "mark", etc. as in あと (similar to 跡)

NB WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE THE ENTRY, IT STATED  "ALREADY" ON THE SITE SO I TRIED TO SEARCH AGAIN WITHOUT SUCCESS. I DECIDED TO SUBMIT IT JUST IN CASE. I DID SEARCH ALL DICTS BY CLICKING THAT BUTTON, BUT IT DID NOT COME UP. APOLOGIES IF THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME FOR YOU.
