Refs: | 広辞苑, Morohashi, Shibano (JIS 漢字辞典), Sakaeda (Kodansha 大字典), etc. |
|
Comments: | This is for kanjidic. (1) don't trust the Wiktionary entries for kanji. They are largely copied from Unihan, and share its faults. See: http://www.unicode.org/cgi-bin/GetUnihanData.pl?codepoint=8fa3 (2) Most good refs (Morohashi (大漢和), Sakaeda, 広辞苑, etc.) only have ラツ. Shibano, Nelson and a couple of Japanese refs add からい. (3) 広辞苑 has きびしい and むごい as *meanings* for the kanji; not readings. (4) "bitter" is in both Nelson and Spahn & Hadamitzky (the kanji is not in Halpern). S&H adds "severe". Morohashi has no meaning at all, and neither does Shibano or Sakaeda. (5) 広辞苑 has two meanings: [1] ぴりりとからい。「辣韮らっきょう・辣油ラーユ」 [2] きびしい。はげしい。むごい。「辛辣・辣腕・悪辣」 My conclusions are: (a) stick with the existing readings (ラツ から.い) (b) change the meanings to pungent/spicy/harsh/cruel/severe I'll leave this here for a few days, and then reject it as it's not actaully a JMdict thing. |
