daijr/daijs keeps 余 & 予 together; none of my other kokugos does (except oubunsha kogo), nor does gg5

i wouldn't implement the split as proposed, but we could split into 余;餘[oK] and 予 with xrefs between them for the shared sense.  i think it makes sense.

the 餘 might be worth recording here because it is [oK] for senses 1 & 2, but not for 3 (which is the original meaning of 余)

Really?  I think the 2/3 rule requires a split:
1. Kanji: {余, 餘[oK]}, Reading: よ, Meaning: "over; more than"
2. Kanji: {余, 予},     Reading: よ, Meaning: "I; me"
The two terms have only the reading in common. Kanji and meaning are both different. So this is 1/3, not 2/3.
Daijirin, Daijisen, Nikkoku all split.  Only Kojien does not split.

A mistake in the example - I have changed it. The amended version will appear next week.

Hi, the example sentence at 伝う is 涙が彼女のほうをつたって流れた, which appears to spell this as ほう. At least, I assume it's the same word. Not sure if this is a valid spelling or a mistake in the example.

over my head.  all i know is 頬 is the form in japanese dictionaries, but my kanwa lists it as an alternate form of 頰.  so not [oK]

i agree.  i think x-refs should be very unless their purpose is totally obvious (e.g. if a term is obscure and a link is given to a more common term, or a link to an antonym or a "c.f." term).  adding x-refs where the point is not obvious just makes a mess and leads to people thinking "why is there a link here?"

I don't really see the point of the xref. A lot of XX入れ/入り terms mean entering in some way. I wouldn't just aim at 立ち入り.
