Comments: | Whilst two rooms deep in the small house may be some 12 feet, as far as I csn tell from another entry in the your dictionary "二間" means two rooms. I suppose that one could add in brackets the distance after, e.g., "Two rooms deep (i.e., about twelve feet deep)" |

Comments: | I read this in a Japan Society handout; but that does not mean accuracy of usage. As to the Google references, there were many examples of the form which I gave. I could copy a selection if you would wish. I wondered if the reading [also picked up on the Google search] is the clue to usage. If the "間" were to be read as a stand alone contribution to the sentence, then in that case would the "ま" be the appropriate usage? |
