Comments: | I see we have separate entries for 上下: うえした, じょうげ and しょうか (and かみしも, but that's a bit different...) GG5 also has じょうか. It (GG5) says じょうげ, しょうか and じょうか are the same (it makes じょうげ the primary one) so I think some merging is in order. We at present have うえした and じょうげ with the same meaning, so a largish merge may be in order. Daijirin generally has じょうげ as a meaning, but seems to have some subtle differences between them. My inclination is to have a grand merge of all of them, with some sense restrictions and "esp. ..." as appropriate. |

Comments: | I think it's fine to use rK on uk entries (we've done it plenty of times already). But GG5 and prog have 胼胝 for たこ, and my IME suggests 胼胝 for たこ. I also suspect that people who are familiar with the kanji are more likely to read it as たこ than as べんち/へんち. I think it's best not to tag 胼胝 as rK. |
|
11. | A* 2023-07-04 21:56:41 Jim Breen <...address hidden...> | |
Comments: | We've tended to use rK to flag rare kanji forms which could be hidden with an sK but since they appear in kokugos should be kept visible. I doubt they're really needed for uk entries. Perhaps this needs to be discussed in the issues GitHub forum. |

Comments: | I read this in a Japan Society handout; but that does not mean accuracy of usage. As to the Google references, there were many examples of the form which I gave. I could copy a selection if you would wish. I wondered if the reading [also picked up on the Google search] is the clue to usage. If the "間" were to be read as a stand alone contribution to the sentence, then in that case would the "ま" be the appropriate usage? |

Comments: | I am not sure about this one, but it was in a Japan Society official handout in both Japanese and English under the title of "Managing public debt and social challenges". It was part of the Daiwa Foundation Lectures. When I have searched, it seems to part of varying combinations, but it may be an official shorthand expression. It may also be a typo! |
