Comments: | All of the references are tagged [uk]. The usage ofコマfor frames of a film is a fairly standard usage in Japan, so it is not like the usage in itself is uncommon or dialectal. If Americans use different words for these usages, perhaps they could tell us? |

Comments: | See comments on 醜語症. 醜語症 is the wrong term(or at least, quite obsolete term) for Coprolalia in the first place. The likelihood that this term on its own has any value as short-hand for a specific piece of medical terminology (Coprolalia) seems vanishingly small from what I can see. As a followup, just realized the word is rare in the first place, though it appears in the wikipedia article on 汚言症 |

Comments: | Appears to be obsolete. It's not in the kokugos (with the exception of the unabbreviated nikkoku). I'd be in favour of deleting this entry. I found a few examples on Twitter but they're all by Japanese learners, presumably because this is the only term we have glossed as "swear word". Oops. Probably not a great gloss, actually. |

Refs: | 汚言症 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/汚言症 I think one dictionary got this wrong(or copied a very old reference), and everyone copied. https://ejje.weblio.jp/content/醜語症 |
|
Comments: | We have an entry for coprolalia. It is 汚言症, and it is correct. Search "汚言症", lots of results. Lots on twitter. Search "醜語症", a handful of medical 和英辞典 entries. Effectively nothing on twitter(a few people found this dictionary entry in 2013 and decided to share for whatever reason). If you do a google book search instead, you'll find, a couple results with this term in medical texts pre-1910. There is a book on katakana terms that is more recent and has it(no doubt copied from somewhere else, just has we have). Basically, even if you can find this in a super-old Japanese text somewhere, I don't think it ever became a word of any importance at all. We could mark it [rare] and xref. But jmdictdb makes no effort to include every obscure medical term, and this one is both obscure and wildly obsolete(if it was ever actually used outside of one or two attempted calques from English back-in-the-day). On balance, I think the world would be better off without the entry. |
