I sat on this proposed edit for a while. No references or other support is provided, but it basically chops 8 senses down to 5. I see GG5 has 6 senses for this and Dair/s have 7 each.
I think the best thing is simply to reject it. The entry possibly could do with some tweaking but as usual, there needs to be a case made.

i agree (with me).  i think it can probably go.

I have to say that I think this entry is probably inappropriate. In fact Rene commented back in 2008: "just pointing out that this entry is superfluous now, and no other dictionary has it."
It is a grammatical construct with very wide application, and I think it's best handled as part of する, if it is handled at all. 
I suggest we look at it with a view to perhaps strengthening the する entry, then drop it.

I'd be in favour of merging this with the する entry (and になる、となる with なる), mostly for the sake of look-ups. I think most people parse out the particle and try to search for the verb, not for 'particle+verb'
(I find entries such as によって a bit irritating as well, but I realise they are probably better that way. にしておく should be stripped of its に though.)
btw, there are almost 1200 entries in tatoeba that are tagged に + する, but only 15 that are linked to にする

The problem is that this entry doesn't cover all the Xにする situations. For example in Tatoeba there is:
知恵は小出しにせよ。 Dole out your wisdom a little at a time. 
邪険にしないで下さいよ！Please don't be cold! 
I feel if we are having a にする entry it should mention the wider uses.

daijirin has an entry for this as うんだい, as does nikk.  nikk appears to confirm the うんたい reading in an old usage example but neither dictionary makes any mention of it in the reading field or in a note, so i think it might be [ok]?

copying from あぶらな. also, ウン薹 gets no hits.  is it required because 蕓 is a rare kanji?  if so, another ウンだい reading will have to be added just for it
