Comments: | One variant of this which I could not find here is 魔法杖, "magic wand" (まほうづえ). I believe it is more often written as "魔法の杖", but the single compound is also used. I suppose "魔法の杖" could also be an entry, along the lines of the entry for 魔法の絨毯 or 魔法のキノコ. |

Comments: | That edit won't work because Text Glossing uses a separate hand-made file for kana-only strings. The WWWJDIC docs explain it: "sequences of four or more hiragana are matched against a small file of words and phrases typically written in kana alone. Only exact matches are reported." I have added this gloss to the かかる entry in that file. Thanks for pointing out 斯 is not 常用漢字. I've added "uk". |

Comments: | Yes, that other つ was put in by one Rene Malenfant in September 2007. My initial inclination was that they shouldn't be merged. Daijirin keeps them in separate entries (it has 5 for つ). Kojien has an omnibus entry, with that つ at the bottom after the usual list of 万葉集/平家物語/源氏物語 arcana. Then I saw that for single-kana entries we always merge them. So probably best to do it here too. I have added it to the "other" つ (pending). |
