The n-grams are saying that 一段 forms are more common in the WWW. Yes, I think it's best to split. I see the kokugos say that both しける and しっける are 一段, but only しける is 五段.
Not sure the note is still needed. It's not mentioned in the references.

'meaning of a theme of a book' and 'meaning of a subject of a book' sound redundant/nonsensical. i'm not sure why you'd doubt that the daij quote refers to a title/question, esp. when daijs defines だい first as 「...見出しの語句。表題。タイトル。」
4. A* 2011-02-22 01:35:56  Scott

gg5 has a couple of examples such as 「残業」の題で川柳を作る (題 entry). That's the theme or subject, not the title or question.

Daijs has: 作品などの題に込められている意味。 I doubt they're talking about the title.

This word has nothing to do with suicide and everything to do with being "self bound" to a specific location after death, either because of strong attachment or confusion over one's own post-mortem existentiality. Suicide victims may often become such spirits, but using 'suicide' in the definition is incorrect and misleading.
