Comments: | -because ん isn't being applied to all senses, it would make a mess of restrictions. ん has its own entry that used to redirect here, but the x-ref seems to have been lost -as the past participle, i think that 'written' is sufficiently vague about timing. and they are still used today depending on context (tombstones, etc.) |

Comments: | shouldn't "ん" be a headword/reading? rather than just a note? "sometimes written 乃 or 之" should maybe be rephrased too (it's not the case of "sometimes" as much as it's the case of "back in the good ol' days") |

Comments: | The "sometimes" might better be "originally". As for ん, that's already a headword in 2139720, where sense 3 says "abbr. of particle "no"". So searching for it gets you to the right place. The entry for の is complicated enough already, and we've split 乃/之 to declutter it. I think keeping ん apart too is appropriate. |

Comments: | * 大辞林 gives definition “Christmas tree” in entry 聖樹 …and I saw it used as such today (at sweet shop, one sweet was called 聖夜 (Holy night, Christmas eve), while another was 聖樹 (Holy tree, Christmas tree), clearly in the holiday theme) * …but word is clearly used more broadly to mean “holy tree”, as some searching reveals. E.g., the 大辞林 entry on Ficus religiosa (Sacred fig tree) (印度菩提樹 インド菩提樹 インドぼだいじゅ) contains the line 「仏教では聖樹とされている」 (roughly “a holy tree in Buddhism”) …which cannot sensibly be interpreted as “Christmas tree”. …and merry Christmas! 良いクリスマスを! |

Comments: | can't find any evidence of a babybjörn product outside of Japan called stye/sty/staj and I'm not aware od any Swedish word pronounced like that either. the theory doesn't strike me as likely because it appears to be very recently coined - I found no relevant 20th century hits on google books - and if it were originallh a product name then surely it'd be trademarked abd easily traceable. |

Also: https://www.psling.net/bib/ |
