Unless I've got it wrong, 瞬き can also be used for a blink of the eye, not just a blink of light or a wink of the eye.  It's really two different kinds of blinking, so it might be worth mentioning.

i'm a bit confused by this.  supposedly this is some kind of "vertical moat" that runs up and down the side of a natural hill?  (compared to a 横堀, which is perhaps more in line with what we think of as a "moat").  but it doesn't appear to be a circle that surrounds the castle, and it isn't filled with water...

so basically i'm wondering about the "moat" part and the "round the castle" part.  but i have no idea about this
