I wasn't fully convinced that 「ねこしゅ」 should be marked irregular, but there aren't a lot of good references for this.
Only one exact match on youglish and it sounds to me like she says びょう (or maybe みょう).

A lot of refs (meikyo 3e, sankoku, NHK accent, daijr/s, gg5) have 犬種 as けんしゅ. I guess by analogy you'd expect びょうしゅ to be the proper reading here. So [ik] is probably fine.

I've just rejected a proposed びょうしゅ/ねこしゅ entry split, and I've come to the view that ねこしゅ should be kept visible after all.

Let's just hide ねこしゅ. Useful to have the びょうしゅ reading recorded.

Might be a good idea to not restrict ねこ種 to the ねこしゅ reading since it'll lead users to the wrong reading.
