I liked the original. No problem with additions. Not from French.

文字通り3人で結婚すること。

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/三人婚
三人婚(さんにんこん、仏:Ménage à trois)は、2人の同性と1人の異性による婚姻関係を指す。

This is one of the two wikipedia citations. It's about brazil(not Japan), and 三人婚 is quoted as novel.

If you use ménage à trois to translate 三人婚, English speakers will likely interpret it as a threesome (sexual arrangement) rather than a three-person marriage. The French meaning is slightly broader but still doesn’t quite match the idea of a formal triadic marriage.
  Comments:
Pixiv and wikipedia say the same thing. 三人婚 is a three way marriage(~like) relationship. The Wikipedia 三人婚 article is chiefly about France, and "Ménage à trois" is given as the translation *from French*.

The wikipedia article citation is to Brazilian *legal recognition* of 3-person marriages.

In English, "Ménage à trois" is most likely to be interpreted as a "threesome", and the "three-way sexual relationship" gloss did not dispel this. And for many English speakers, "threesome" is the only possible meaning.

In any case, this is not a common term in Japanese, except in the fanciful rom-com context. Image search shows manga images with brides and grooms and everything.

三人+結婚 = 三人婚 is so straightforward that I'm sure it's even fair to call this a calque from French (as wikipedia suggests). Otherwise, an lsrc=fr note, maybe.
