<upd_detl>I note that the kokugos aren't consistent on this. For example, daijr doesn't have an entry for 米/べい (America) but it does for 加/か (Canada).
I think entries like this are fine. But we need decide which PoS tag(s) to use. For 米 and 英, we have [n,n-pref,n-suf]; for others just [n]. I don't think n-suf is right. In something like 日米, 米 isn't really a suffix.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>i also don't think that just [n] is generally right either.  or [n-pref].  in 日米, 米 isn't a suffix, but 日 is also not a prefix.

really these are all 造語成分 that we just include in jmdict as a courtesy to make decoding words easier.  they wouldn't be needed if kanjidic was built into jmdict, i think.

probably there should be a new PoS for these or we should just generally exclude them.  kanjidic is the most appropriate place to handle these</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>I think we need a pos for these single-kanji country abbreviations. We should continue to 
include them. I'm suggesting making the new ones "unc" initially until we sort it out.
