<upd_detl>I think the line is rather blurred. My instinct was that it's slang because it's a relatively recent coinage, it's a pun, and it's not that widely used (or so I assumed – I'd never heard it before). But I see it's used in hundreds of tweets a day as well as a lot of recent articles so "col" is probably OK.</upd_detl>
