<upd_detl>We could have a separate entry for 芋の子を洗うよう(な) like we do for 芋を洗うような (as they're near each other in the ngrams) but the point I guess I didn't make explicit enough is that there's other variations like 芋の子状態 which kind of testify people associate 芋の子 with crowded pools in particular.</upd_detl>
