<upd_detl>I was going to let this be, but since Stephen brought up the other meaning, I figured it was worth adding a "useful" gloss.

"to enfeoff" now holds the record for most-obscure-English I've learned here.

Maybe you'll have better wording.  I think technically "to enfeoff" is not as specific as this term, but I did find "enfeoff" in English-language treatments of historical Japan.

Needs to be matched with the corresponding 封ずる entry when complete.</upd_detl>
