The change was aimed at unifying the proletarian culture front, and eleven bodies, including the artists’ federations and the Proletarian Science Center (Puroretaria Kagaku Kenkyujo), headed by Akita Ujaku, a private academic body founded in 1929 by Ogawa Shinichi and Miki Kiyoshi, did join. KOPF became more radical, however, and members were increasingly subject to arrest by the police. It disbanded in 1934. "</upd_refs>
