<upd_detl>The xrefs have gotten attention over the years, but this entry has stuck since 2006. "obsequious" in particular was dropped some time back.

This would seem to be a case of strengthening by duplication, so the glosses should pretty much be the same as both xrefs, "but stronger".
(like some of our previous "grieving" examples).

Simply displaying both xrefs should make this clear enough.

I noticed that the glosses for 媚びる[1] and 諂う are close-but-not-quite-the-same.  Perhaps they should be aligned.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>MacOS IME gave me 媚諂う, unfortunately.

諂う is [uk], so this makes sense. 媚 has such a strong connotation, I'm not surprised it is usually included.</upd_detl>
