<upd_detl>I thought it was an editorial policy that a prio tag on a reading should always be matched by a prio tag on a corresponding kanji form
no matter how obscure the kanji form is (unless the reading is marked [nokanji]).
See for instance とても, する, まで etc.
The reason was I think that otherwise the entry will not be marked as common in the old JMDict format.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>That requirement no longer applies. JL's JMdict-&gt;EDICT conversion script handles it correcly, and there's no need to tie a high-scoring reading to a kanji any more.
