<upd_detl>I am puzzled by this word. 大 + 味 would appear to mean the exact opposite of "tasteless, flat-tasting, dull". Goo dictionary gives the same definition though. If it's correct then perhaps an etymological note would help, because it has a strong appearance of being wrong.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Quite a number of kanji derivations are non-obvious, but unless I am fundamentally misunderstanding something, this meaning is blatantly the exact opposite of what the kanji say. I don't recall seeing any other example so counter-intuitive. I think a note about how it came to have such a meaning (if known) would reassure readers that the definition is not a mistake.</upd_detl>
